HOLLOWAY, RAYMOND H. 'LEFTY'

On July 9, 2005, age 85, a life long resident of Haddonfield and husband of the late Margaret C. (nee Riddell).
Lefty is survived by his four children, Howard Holloway, of Howell, NJ, Margaret Jane Holloway, of Haddonfield, NJ, Bonnie Richards, of Haddon Twp, NJ., and Rae Ann Easterday, of Haddon Twp., NJ, 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild a brother, Fred 'Fritz' Holloway, of Medford Lakes, NJ and a sister, Evelyn Ellis, of Haddon Twp., NJ.
He attended Haddonfield High School for four years before he joined the 8th Army Air Corp and was stationed at Paddington airfield in England during WWll. While serving, he met his wife Margaret 'Maggie' a lass from Aberdeen, Scotland. They married on November 20th 1944 in Scotland. After returning home from the war, Lefty joined the Haddonfield police force in 1948 where he attained the rank of Lieutenant. He retired 37 years later in 1984 to spend more time with his growing family of grandchildren.
One of his greatest loves was serving as a member of the Haddon Fire Company No. 1 since 1947. During his 59 years of service, he served as president, trustee and on many other important committees. Other local organizations he belonged to were the Haddonfield Lions Club and American Legion Post #38. He was also a member of the group of citizens that started the Little League association of Haddonfield. Because he loved working with the youth of the community, he managed Little League and Babe Ruth teams for 17 years. His other major community service that the entire town loved, was the 59 years he donated at Christmas time taking the children upon his knee and asking each one what was on their Christmas list. Lefty loved his entire family and he will be missed very much.
Memorial donations in Lefty's name may be made to Haddon Fire Company No. 1, PO Box 345, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.
