Haddon Fire Company No. 1 assisted by Task Force 141 ( Cherry Hill and Haddon Heights Fire Departments) responded to a reported Dwelling Fire early this morning at 127 Westmont Avenue in Haddonfield, N.J.

The Fire was reported at approximately 1:00 AM by the homeowner(s), who were home at the time. The Homeowners reported hearing a noise, followed by activation of the smoke alarms. They quickly evacuated the residence and notified the Fire Department by dialing 9-1-1.

Upon arrival, Police and Fire Officers witnessed a heavy smoke condition coming from the 3rd floor windows. Firefighters from Haddonfield and Cherry Hill were able to gain access to the 3rd floor and extinguished the fire with less than 100 gallons of water and by utilizing Haddonfields new CAFS (compressed air foam system). The fire was confined to the 3rd floor with significant smoke damage to the entire residence. Ventilation and hydrant water supply was provided by Haddon Heights Fire Department.

Haddon Fire Company Officers report that working smoke alarms, immediate notification to the fire Department and efforts of the firefighters resulted in minimal damage to the home. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshals Office.
